Free activities for family holiday fun

Angus Council had again linked up with a number of partner organisations and more than 35 will be working together to offer a range of fun activities, childcare and targeted support to children, young people and families during the October school holidays, which run until Friday, October 14.

The aim is to support children and families some who will be on a low income to access free activities, childcare and food during the school holidays.

The scheme recognises the importance of widening the opportunities for children to play, socialise, get active and access a range of activities that broaden their experiences.

There will also be free bus travel available to allow movement between different burghs and some scheme will also be offering free lunches.

The autumn programme is funded through the council’s Holiday Food and Fun budget.

Councillor Lynne Devine, Angus Council's children and learning convener, said: “It’s great to see another fantastic range of activities on offer for children and young people in Angus through the school holidays.

“We couldn’t do this without the support of the local organisations and partners who get involved, in particular those who offer targeted support for specific children and families.

“I’m also pleased the offer of the family bus pass is available again from October 1 to 16, allowing adults to travel free of cost with children, helping them get to the activities on offer or to travel to the many beaches, museums, libraries, parks and attractions in Angus.

“During the first week of the holidays, on October 5, the council is also holding a cost of living roadshow at Gayfield Park in Arbroath between 11am to 3pm where people can meet a large range of local organisations to find out about support available to help with rising living costs.”
