The stretch of dual carriageway near the town bypass has been the scene of frequent but temporary repairs in the last few years.

Scottish Conservative Mr Kerr has campaigned for Transport Scotland to resurface both sides of the dual carriageway between the Keithock and St Anne’s junctions since 2018, citing a poor accident record.

Scotland’s roads agency has now announced a programme of work worth £290,000 will take place over the next month.

Mr Kerr said: “This commitment by Transport Scotland is welcome but long overdue.

“The A90 at Brechin is one of the busiest routes in Scotland, yet it’s being left to rot in places.

“Near the Brechin bypass is a danger to motorists and the programme of patchwork repairs to date just doesn’t cut it.

“I have lobbied two SNP transport secretaries about the serious state between the A935 and B966 turnoffs, because there have been frequent accidents.

“Someone will be seriously injured if these issues aren’t addressed permanently.”

Subject to weather, the work is expected to finish by November 20.
