Many people in the local community are struggling socially, emotionally and fiancially leading to hardship, with individuals and families dealing with difficulties in feeding themselves and heating their homes.

The new Montrose Comfort Table project will see the community trust team up with a range of partner agencies, as well as local volunteers, in the development and delivery of an initially weekly initiative, where anyone living in the local area can enjoy a 'day off' from such worries.

They will be able to enjoy a warm, welcoming environment as well as a nutritious, oven-cooked meal.

The scheme began recently and every Wednesday, for the foreseeable future, doors will be open at Philos Community Hub, on Castle Street, from 3pm to 7pm for anyone feeling the pinch and pain the economic crisis is inflicting.

A trust spokesperson said: “We were one of ten football club charitable arms that successfully applied for financial support from the The SPFL Trust Winter Response Fund, and we look forward to putting such to good use.”
