Last year’s day, held at Brechin Golf Club, raised £40,000 for MND Scotland, which will again be the beneficiary this year.

As well as the golf on Sunday (April 23), the club has put together an online auction which will run until the end of the month to ensure it raises as much as possible for the charity.

The club was cautious that last year’s response might have been a one-off, but the response from the local community and businesses has been tremendous. Auction items include family tickets on the Warner Bros Caledonian Railway Brechin Polar Express; VIP Hospitality tickets for Elton John Concert; Club Europe Hospitality at Ibrox; Erling Haaland signed and framed top; signed Jota Celtic top and a signed Tavernier Rangers top

Ross Allison, golf club captain and Rotarian, said: “Once again we are so grateful for the donations of auction items and raffle prizes. Interest in the event has exceeded our expectations for a second year.”

Details of how to bid can be found on the Rotary’s Facebook page. Bids will clost at midnight on April 27. So far more than £3000 has been bid in total.

While main sponsors of the golf day are Forster Group and J.W. Souttar, and hole sponsors including the £10,000 hole in one competition are in place, there are a few team slots still available for teams of three golfers. Anyone interested should contact Scot Kelly via the club.

He said: “All of the golf holes have been sponsored including our hole-in-one competition for £10,000 and a tremendous selection of more than thirty auction items donated, many of which are worth substantial sums.”
