I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to buy for the men folk in my life. They have everything they need and more and I feel like I give them the same stuff year after year.

I often take the path of least resistance and go for money wallets or gift vouchers but those feel so impersonal and almost like I couldn’t be bothered to make the effort to pick out something special.

This year I thought I’d try a bit harder, and I’ve got all my boys presents sorted. I thought I’d share my secrets with you and hope you can find some inspiration among this little lot for the men in your life too. Okay, so there might be soaps and smellies on the list but there’s not a sock in sight.

Music

If your man likes nothing better than to zone out from everything and listen to his tunes, why not give him some super cool, top-quality headphones this year? He will love wireless Bluetooth Beats or Apple Air pods. He can enjoy his favourite tracks as loud as he likes without you having to put up with his bad taste in music – unfortunately these items won’t stop him playing air guitar though!

Nice smelly stuff

You can’t beat gorgeous, scented products under the tree, and I don’t know about you, but my boys take their grooming pretty seriously. It’s a competition for space on the bathroom shelf in this house.

However, if your chap normally goes for a bar of cheap soap and not much else, you should introduce him to life’s little luxuries that will have him smelling divine in no time.

You first stop should be Molton Brown. Popular fragrances in Molton Brown’s men's range are Black Peppercorn or Coastal Cypress and Sea Fennel. I can vouch for all of these, and they are both gorgeous and so masculine. (I’ve also been known to borrow their shower gel ssshhhh)

Take a look on the Molton Brown website where you will find cracking boxed gift sets.

Food & Drink

Nothing says I love you like some fine festive nosh. If you’re not sure about giving him fancy aftershaves and shower gels, then let’s stick to something we know they all love – food and drink. You really can’t go wrong in my opinion.

Take a look at scottishhampers.co.uk what a fine selection of stuff we have here. You can choose from their Christmas options or build your own. The Christmas hampers come in a range of prices and sizes but if you create your own you can choose all his favourite treats such as cheese, salmon, haggis, tablet, chocolate, beers, wines, whiskey and cider.

Imagine his face when he opens that treasure box on Christmas morning. You’ll be right back in the good books.

Virgin Experience Days

Another good suggestion for someone who is difficult to buy presents for as an experience day. This is something they wouldn't normally buy for themselves but if someone else gifts it, they will love it - that sort of thing. Whether he's a sports fan a foodie, a petrol head, a thrill seeker or a beer lover, you are sure to find an exciting experience day he will remember forever.

Driving experiences are popular gifts for Dads and husbands too - they can pretend they're starring in their very own episode of Top Gear and experience life in the fast lane. Or go to the website and choose something based on their personality type. Is he a music lover? an aspiring chef? or maybe he just enjoys a bit of luxury. You're bound to find something memorable to put in his stocking and raise a smile this Christmas.

Getting personal

Why not give him something personalised? Check out some of the fantastic goodies on Not on the High Street. Choose from novelty gifts such as personalised vinyl record storage cases, football team history books, or if he’s the king of the kitchen, go for a slogan apron or a personalised chopping board. You never know it might inspire him to do some more cooking and get you off the hook. See – there’s method in my madness.

Christmas Jumpers

Now it wouldn’t be Christmas without a novelty sweater, right?

I’ve found one that is sure to give everyone round the table a good laugh. Check out this unique knitwear from www.notjustclothing.co.uk which features our much-loved Greggs pastry treats.

Hopefully, this has given you some idea of what to give the gents in your life this Christmas.

If you’re still stumped, why not just offer to do the washing up for a month.

Now there’s a present money can’t buy!
