Work starts on £14m Carnoustie business park

The development on the western edge of the town, by local company DJ Laint, received detailed planning consent in February 2021 as part of a larger mixed use development plan by the company.

The original masterplan for Victoria Green was the vision of the late Heinz Voigt of the Voigt Partnership and partner David Laing, chairman of the DJ Laing Group. The project has been the result of 15 years of hard work to provide modern industrial units and commercial premises in Carnoustie.

The initial phase will provide small starter units which will be available to let to a variety of users/occupiers. The intention is then to develop the site in stages with a mix of small, medium and large industrial units suitable for commercial use including office accommodation.

The small starter units will be ready to occupy from this spring.

Mr Laing said: “We’re delighted to finally bring this project and our latest investment plans to fruition and create high-quality business and industrial space in Carnoustie.

Councillor Mark McDonald, Angus Council’s economic development spokesperson, said that the development will help to meet the high demand for prime industrial and business space in the county.

He continued: “Alongside this our current commercial units/properties have a high occupancy rate, so the new business park at Victoria Green in Carnoustie is great news for Angus and encourage this and future economic growth in Angus through jobs and investment.

“One of the key priorities for Angus Council is to make Angus ‘a go to place for business’ by engaging with businesses to make it easier, quicker and better to do business and invest in Angus.

"Angus Council’s Economic Development department works in close partnership with a number of businesses and organisations to develop strong industry and sector links, through Invest In Angus to encourage business growth and investment.”
