Angus butchers strike silver in craft trade awards

Two Angus butchers struck silver recently with their special products developed especially for the summer.

Robert Watt Butcher of Forfar and D H Robertson of Arbroath both enjoyed success in the recent Craft Butcher Awards evaluation for speciality burgers and Make it With Haggis that were judged at Forth Valley College in Stirling last month.

While Watt’s won with their Breakfast Stack and Mexican Bagpipes in the Make it With Haggis awards, Robertson’s wowed the judges with their Chilli Jam Steak Burger and Haggis & Chestnut Beef Olive with Peppercorn Sauce.

There were 164 entries in the Speciality Burger category while the Make it With Haggis category attracted 145 entries. The evaluations were sponsored by Colin Hewitson Weighing and Food Processing Expertise and Scotweigh.
